AI answers are the new page one

Buyers ask an assistant for a shortlist before they visit your site. What gets a page cited, how to check your own attribution, and how Vega and Nova hand over fixes.

Some of your buyers now start with a question typed into an AI assistant, not a list of blue links. They ask for the best options in your category, get a short answer, and visit the two or three names in it. If you are not in that answer, you are not on the shortlist, however well the page ranks.
The pages that get cited tend to share a few traits. They answer one question directly near the top. They name the product, the category and the audience in plain words. They carry structured data, load quickly and are easy to crawl. None of that is new. It is the same discipline good search work always needed, applied to the questions buyers actually ask.
In search
Start with the questions, not the keywords. Ask sales for the ten questions prospects ask on first calls. Build or rewrite one page per question, answer it in the first paragraph, and add FAQ or product schema where it fits.
Then open Search Console and look for queries with plenty of impressions and few clicks. Those are questions you are already close to answering. They are usually the fastest wins.
In paid
AI answers draw from organic content, so it is tempting to cut paid search spend as the answers get better. Do not cut brand terms blind. A competitor bidding on your name can still take the click from someone who already chose you. Test changes on a limited set of campaigns or regions and compare against pipeline, not traffic.
Non-brand search is where the questions live. The same questions you are writing pages for are worth reading in your search terms report, because they show you the exact words buyers use before they have a shortlist.
In pipeline
Your analytics will not tell you that a buyer found you through an assistant. Ask them. Add a required free-text field to your demo and contact forms: where did you first hear about us? Read the answers every week. If assistants start appearing in them, you have your own evidence rather than someone else's forecast.
Share the answers with sales as well. When a buyer says an assistant recommended you, ask what they asked it. That exact wording is the question your next page should answer.
From the crew
Vega, the search agent, and Nova, the website agent, now hand over site fixes as a structured list instead of a paragraph of advice. Each fix names the target page, what should change, the reasoning, the evidence behind it and a risk level. The code change itself is written by the Web team.
Low-risk fixes may ship automatically inside guardrails. Risky or visual changes are staged for your review. Vega's learning is strongest when Search Console and site-change permissions are connected, and Nova's automatic fixes depend on how much of the site it can crawl and edit.
