Why Spryxa Became a Growth Crew, and Why the Audit Still Comes First

Spryxa started as a site audit tool. The audit was useful, but a finding nobody ships is just a document. Here is why we built a crew that does the work, and why every engagement still starts with the audit.

Spryxa started life as UXBoost, a tool that audited websites and told you what was wrong with them. People liked the reports. Then most of them did nothing with the reports, because the report was never the hard part. The hard part was getting the work done.

This post explains what we changed, why, and what stayed the same. The short version: Spryxa is now the growth crew for your business. You pay for outcomes, not for AI agents. And the free audit is still the first thing that happens, because a crew that starts work without a baseline is guessing.

The problem with selling audits

An audit is a diagnosis. It tells you the hero headline does not say what you sell, the pricing page takes too long to load, and the demo form asks for eleven fields when three would do. All true, all useful, and all sitting in a PDF on a shared drive six weeks later.

We watched this happen over and over. The findings were right. The team agreed with them. Then the findings joined a backlog behind product work, a campaign launch and a board deck. The marketing lead who ran the audit had no designer, no developer on call and no agency hours left in the SOW. So nothing shipped.

If you run marketing at a company without a big team, you know this pattern. The bottleneck is not insight. It is execution capacity, and the usual answer to execution capacity is a retainer.

The problem with the retainer

Agencies solve the capacity problem by selling hours. That works when the scope is clear and the account team is strong. It breaks down in familiar ways: the senior people who pitched you are not the people doing the work, the monthly report counts activity instead of pipeline, and every change that falls outside the SOW becomes a change order.

We are not saying agencies are bad. Plenty are excellent. We are saying that a lean team paying a monthly retainer to get landing page edits, SEO fixes and a campaign readout is paying a lot for coordination. We wanted to take the coordination cost out.

What a growth crew actually is

Spryxa runs eight crews, each with a narrow job and a written contract for what it produces and what it needs a person to approve:

  • Website Crew (Nova) audits the site for performance, SEO and conversion drift and proposes specific fixes. Low-risk fixes can ship inside guardrails. Risky or visual changes are staged for your review.
  • Search Crew (Vega) scans keyword movement and AI answer visibility and turns evidence into search briefs and site fixes.
  • Content Crew (Lyra) drafts posts and pages in your voice. A person reviews the draft, the claims and the destination before anything goes live.
  • Brand Crew (Iris) checks copy and assets against your voice rules and flags what drifts.
  • Paid Media Crew (Orion) reads ad performance and proposes budget shifts. Budget, targeting, creative and launches need your explicit approval.
  • Outreach Crew (Apollo) builds prospect shortlists and drafts outreach. You review recipients, consent and every message before send.
  • Pipeline Crew (Atlas) summarises the pipeline, flags stalled leads and recommends owners and handoffs.
  • Measurement Crew (Echo) watches analytics and conversion data, flags anomalies and writes attribution notes. It does not change anything by itself.

The pattern across all eight is the same. Crews read, propose and stage work without asking. Anything that publishes, sends, spends or merges waits for you, unless you decide a specific kind of trusted work can run on autopilot.

Why we price on outcomes

A crew you pay per agent is still a tool you have to manage. We would rather you think about the result you want, such as a faster pricing page, a rebuilt demo flow or a search gap closed, and let the crews that own it do the work. Plans are set by how many outcomes run at once, not by how many agents you switch on.

That also forces honesty on our side. If an outcome cannot be measured with the data you have connected, the Measurement Crew says so instead of reporting a number it cannot back up.

Why the audit is still where the crew starts

We kept the audit, and we made it free, because it does a job nothing else can do: it establishes the before-state. The same audit engine now feeds the crews. It covers 23 analysis types, scores the site against all 10 of Nielsen's usability heuristics, runs 13 technical SEO checks, and judges Core Web Vitals against Google's published thresholds.

Every finding in that audit maps to the crew that can fix it. A slow page goes to Nova. A missing search intent goes to Vega. A value proposition that does not match your ICP goes to Lyra and Iris. So the audit is no longer a report you file. It is the work queue.

It also gives you something to compare against. When a fix ships, the page is measured against its own before-state, and you can see whether it moved.

What did not change

  • Evidence first. Findings still name the specific element and the reason, not a colour-coded grade.
  • No install to start. The audit runs on your public site. Connecting Google Analytics 4 or Search Console later makes it sharper, but it is not required.
  • You stay in charge. Nothing public, nothing sent and no budget moved without your say-so.

Who this is for

We built Spryxa for two kinds of operator. The first is a VP of Marketing who has run the agency cycle a few times and is tired of paying for coordination. The second is a founder running marketing alongside everything else, who needs the work done but cannot justify a full team yet. Both need the same thing: capacity that ships, with a person keeping control of what goes out the door.
